For more than 100 years, the National Park Service has managed millions of acres dedicated for the education, enjoyment and inspiration of all. 62 protected areas draw more than 300 million visitors a year. A bill creating the original state park, Yellowstone was signed into lay by President Ulysses S. Grant 1872 . National parks are designated for their natural beauty, unique geological features, diverse ecosystems and recreational opportunities. Thirty states have national parks, as do the territories of American Samoa and the U.S. Virgin Islands. California has the most with 9, followed by Alaska with 8, Utah with 5 and Colorado with 4. Join us in our exploration and discussion as we explore six of the most popular parks in the West. We will learn the history of each park as well as visit their majestic beauty through the magic of digital images and drone footage.
